I can't understand though, why it is that there are those (I'm looking at you, Charles Johnson of Liberal Gassy Footballs) who think that because someone is diseased enough to believe in killing abortionists, that they are conservative or that they are welcome in the conservative fold. Conservatives don't want to kill those that commit the abortion. True, we don't want abortion to take place, but the answer is NOT killing the abortionist. To kill the abortionist is to bring us to their level. Conservatives don't do that.

I am anti-abortion. I detest the taking of a life that is innocent. While we may not believe that this abortionist was doing the MORALLY correct thing, it is NOT up to us as conservatives to act as vigilantes and certainly not when the LAW is not being violated.

That fucking moron over at LGF seems to think that conservatives are all just sitting around with our semi-automatics waiting for the collapse of society, so we can shoot our way out of trouble. Time Warner wants to increase the cost of internet service based on bandwidth usage. They're telling us that 50% of the TWC bandwidth in San Antonio is being used by 5% of their subscribers. I highly doubt that. But the type of caps being discussed are ludicrously low. We're hearing 40 gigs per month. Now, I don't download movies from Netflix, but I do listen to music. That's bandwidth. I play games. That's bandwidth. This is insane. If they actually do implement this, I will cancel my subscription. I guarantee it.

In New Mexico, the Legislative Education Study Committee has analyzed the stealth creationism bill (disguised as “academic freedom”) we recently noted, and discovered that it’s ... a stealth creationism bill.

While it is difficult to predict the actual outcomes if SB 433 were enacted, the bill analyses by PED and HED, as well as the analysis by the Office of Education Accountability (OEA), all raise questions or concerns about the provisions of the bill.

The PED analysis raises these points, among others:

* Although the bill’s definition of “scientific information” excludes information derived from religious or philosophical writings, beliefs or doctrines, SB 433 goes on to say that scientific information may have religious or philosophical implications and remain scientific in nature. The PED analysis states that this point would allow the teaching of theories of biological origins such as intelligent design or creationism.

* PED quotes the National Academy of Sciences and Institute of Medicine of the National Academies, “There is no scientific controversy about the basic facts of evolution...arguments that attempt to confuse students by suggesting that there are fundamental weaknesses in the science of evolution are unwarranted based on the overwhelming evidence that supports the theory. Creationist ideas lie outside the realm of science, and introducing them in science courses has been ruled unconstitutional by the U. S. Supreme Court and other federal courts.”

* Pursuing this legal point, the PED analysis cites several court cases in which efforts “to impose a religious view of biological origins into the curriculum,” as SB 433 seems to do, have been found to violate the Establishment Clause of the US Constitution. This analysis also says that SB 433 implicates Article 2, Section 11 of the state constitution, which guarantees freedom of religion, and Section 22-13-15 NMSA 1978, which prohibits the teaching of sectarian doctrine in public schools.

* Finally, the PED analysis suggests that enacting SB 433 would invite litigation.

The OEA analysis questions some of the premises behind the bill:

* that the theory of evolution lacks scientific validity; and

* that teachers and students need protection when addressing “relevant scientific strengths or scientific weakness pertaining to biological evolution or chemical evolution.”

His work as Khan, in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, was taken from an episode almost 15 years old, from the original Star Trek TV series. Outside of the regular cast, people point to him as the most memorable of actors to appear on the show or in the movies afterward.

As Fantasy Island's Mr. Roarke, you always had the sense that Khan was lurking about, but more playful than malevolent.

The California Supreme Court ruled Thursday that a young woman who pulled a co-worker from a crashed vehicle isn't immune from civil liability because the care she rendered wasn't medical.

A little further in the article:

"One who dives into swirling waters to retrieve a drowning swimmer can be sued for incidental injury he or she causes while bringing the victim to shore, but is immune for harm he or she produces while thereafter trying to revive the victim," Baxter wrote for the dissenters. "Here, the result is that defendant Torti has no immunity for her bravery in pulling her injured friend from a crashed vehicle, even if she reasonably believed it might be about to explode."

This is insanity. I have traveled to California before, and on two occasions, happened upon traffic accidents and stopped to help. My actions could land me in civil court if I did anything of the sort in the future.

I guess the best thing to do would be to call the cops on the cell phone, tell them where the accident is, and watch the victim gurgle up his own blood while he dies.

I hope that one day, I'm in Suckramento when one of these California Supreme Court Justices is in a car wreck, so I can sit and watch him scream in terror as the flames lick at his rapidly charring body, until there is nothing left but smoking bone.

Much has been made lately on some blogs about the battle between creationism and evolution. There are those who believe that we evolved out of the simple random joining of amino acids early in the life of the earth. This may be. I wasn’t around then, though there is evidence to support this. There is no “evidence” to support the notion that a higher being created us. Now, before anyone gets the wrong idea and flames me, I’m not saying I don’t believe in God, I merely am stating that there is no physical evidence, direct, hard evidence that He exists. Do I believe there is a God? Yes. Do I believe literally in the interpretive story of Genesis? No. This may get me in trouble with a great number of Christians, but I believe that man, at the time the Scriptures were written, had such a limited knowledge of the earth, and a limited amount of reasoning capability, that the Scriptures reflected that limited knowledge. The earth and all that we see was not created in seven literal days, as outlined in Genesis, but over millions of years.

Someone set that in motion.

I’m no scientist, and don’t claim to be. I can say that there were many times in my HS Bio class that the teacher tried to belittle the idea that there was a God and he really pushed evolution as an exclusive idea. To illustrate his argument, he made an elaborate experiment, full of sealed (clear) tubes and liquids, amino acids and the like. Over the course of the school year, with heating and cooling of the experiment, simple life grew in the sealed tubes.

This, the Bio teacher claimed, was proof that evolution was possible. After all, life evolved out of these simple items.

I had one question.

Who assembled the tubes, inserted the water and simple amino acids?

The Bio teacher stated that he did. I then asked him, if that were the case, wouldn’t that prove that a Creator might have been involved? After all, this couldn’t have made itself.

He was stunned. He had no answer.

I’m not going to get involved in the war between evolution and creation; it makes no sense to. They both exist, and compliment each other. One cannot be in existence to the exclusion of the other.

OK, there seems to be a bit of a controversy about the film "Tropic Thunder." Apparently, there are some disabled groups that are upset the the use of the term "retard." This term is liberally sprinkled throughout the film. I can understand why some groups would be hurt by this, but frankly, aren't we tired YET of being a perpetually offended society? These are fucking words, people! Think about it. A century ago, the "n" word was normally used, to describe someone of African origin. It's a term that is out of favor today, replaced by "colored," which was replaced by "black," which was replaced by "African American." "Idiot" was replaced by "moron," which was replaced by "retarded," which was replaced by "special," which has morphed into "special needs."

If you can be hurt by a word, then you must be pretty fucking weak.
It's a comedy. Get over yourselves.

WASHINGTON — The political vision of a summer gas tax holiday died a quick death in Congress, losing to a view that federal excise taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel — far from dropping — will have to go up if they go anywhere.

Despite calls from the presidential campaign trail for a Memorial Day-to-Labor Day tax freeze, lawmakers quickly concluded — with a prod from the construction industry — that having $9 billion less to spend on highways could create a pre-election specter of thousands of lost jobs.

Now I was not one of the people calling for a "gas tax holiday," cause it seemed to me to be a short term solution to a long term problem. But I think that the democrats are monumentally stupid to raise our taxes in a time when the economic conditions are at the edge of a recession. We cut back on driving because of the high cost of gasoline, and because we buy less gasoline, the government is losing money that could go for infrastructure. I got a better idea. All of these morons in congress can just get rid of their little perks and live just like the rest of us slobs out here.

If my congressman votes for this, I'll be sure to show up at his next meet and greet. You'll recognize me easily. I'll be the guy giving him the finger all session long.
